Ipswich Town make an immediate return to the Premier League, sealing promotion with a 3-0 win over QPR on the final day of the Championship season — Kieran McKenna's third promotion in four seasons in charge, and the club's second successive Championship-to-Premier League jump in three years.
Despite persistent transfer speculation linking McKenna to Brighton, Chelsea and even Manchester United after last season's promotion heroics, he committed his long-term future to Portman Road with a new four-year deal running to 2028. It caps a remarkable rebuild: after relegation on the final day of 2024/25, McKenna oversaw significant squad turnover — with Omari Hutchinson and Liam Delap both departing for Premier League clubs — before guiding a much-changed group back to the top flight, overtaking both Coventry and Middlesbrough in the promotion race with a strong second half of the season.
It's the third time in four seasons Ipswich have secured promotion under McKenna, and with far greater stability around the manager this time than during the club's difficult first return in 2024/25, the Tractor Boys will be aiming to establish themselves in the Premier League for good.
