Manchester United | 2026/27 Premier League Season
Manchester United head into 2026/27 with genuine optimism for the first time in years, under permanent manager Michael Carrick. Appointed on an interim basis in January 2026 following Rúben Amorim's acrimonious exit, Carrick transformed United's season — no Premier League side won more games than United's twelve across his first seventeen matches in charge, propelling the club from sixth to a third-place finish and a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2023.
Carrick's impact earned him a permanent two-year contract, and he's wasted no time setting the bar high, declaring United ready to "fight for every trophy available." Bruno Fernandes was named Premier League Player of the Season after a career-best campaign, and the club have moved to strengthen further with the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans as United balance a genuine four-competition push — Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
United open their campaign at home to newly promoted Hull City on Saturday 22 August, live on TNT Sports, before facing fellow new boys Ipswich Town the following week and the first Manchester derby of the season two weeks after that. It's also United's turn in the spotlight off the pitch, with Amazon Prime following Carrick's side for the latest instalment of their "All or Nothing" documentary series.
