Zurich's opera house opens its 2026/27 season with a strong thematic focus on America across three major new productions, alongside the return of Anna Netrebko to the stage. Highlights include Puccini's La Fanciulla del West with Jonas Kaufmann, John Adams's Doctor Atomic, Verdi's La Traviata under Joana Mallwitz, and Handel's Rinaldoconducted by Philippe Jaroussky. The season also marks a milestone for the Orchestra of Zurich Opera under Gianandrea Noseda, who leads the company's first complete concert performance of Wagner's Ring cycle at Carnegie Hall in New York, alongside guest appearances in Paris and Edinburgh. Set inside one of Europe's most musically distinguished houses, the season opens with the "24h Opernhaus" festival, offering a full day and night of free behind-the-scenes access before the season proper begins.
