Bavaria's largest multi-genre theatre opens its 2026/27 season on September 19, 2026 with a singular Theaterfest spanning ballet, opera, drama and concert all in one evening — the last time all four divisions will share the historic Opernhaus for a full season before music theatre relocates to a new venue at the Kongresshalle in 2028. The programme brings over 30 premieres, including eleven world premieres, across opera, drama, ballet and nearly 80 concerts from the Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg, with the opera wing alone staging seven new productions under Intendant Jens-Daniel Herzog, plus the return of crowd favourites Jesus Christ Superstar and The Threepenny Opera.
