About Arsenal FC
Arsenal Football Club, known as Arsenal FC for short, is a professional football club in Islington, England, and their biggest rivals are the Tottenham Hotspur.
History of Arsenal FC
Formed in 1893, Arsenal was the first club in the Southern Region of England to join the Premier Football League. It took them 11 years to reach the first division and achieved the longest winning streak in the top division. They are also the second-most top-flight winners of games in all English football history.
The 1930s was an incredible year for Arsenal. They won 5 League Championships and 2 FA Cups, making them a top competitor for years to come. This early success faded in the 1950s when their team became old and outdated. They had little success winning any cups until the 1970s.
The early 2000s saw a “revitalized” team under the management of Arsène Wegner. Arsène implemented a powerful new, attack style into the Arsenal training regime along with a strict diet and physical program. It was during this time that top players such as Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry were added to the team.
In 2003 and 2005, Arsenal were the FA Cup winners and was undefeated in the Premier League from 2003 to 2004. It was this incredible winning streak that earned them the nickname “The Invincibles.”
Arsenal’s home games are played at the new stadium in Ashburton Grove, which is more commonly known as the Emirates Stadium. It gets this nickname from its sponsorship with the airline company Emirates who has provided them with one of the biggest sponsorship deals worth more than £100million. The stadium can hold up to 60,361 fans.
